This year has been quite the challenge, but it shows that in unprecedented times we can still pull through as a team and we will always stick together! It has been such a blessing that we have been able to continue to support our SKC Students, and it has been a pleasure! I count my blessings every day, and it is wonderful to be able to help our students daily.
With social distancing in place, we were able to hold classes and SKC Clubhouse outside thanks to parents who helped set up a working area for the kids. We took advantage of every warm day to be outside exercising, doing art and exploring nature.
Every day we supply healthy food to our kiddos, we do groceries each week to ensure we have fresh and healthy snacks available. Our Clubhouse is a great space for small group work with social and skill development and a focus on mental health. We also provided snowsuits for some of the SKC students and helped an anonymous “elf” who supported 3 of our families for Christmas this year!
We did a rewarding activity during Irwin’s week of kindness that was based on the book “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?” The students were asked to design their own buckets to fill with words of kindness. It is great to see students coming together to help support one another and knowing that we are all in this together!
