SKC Calgary Clubhouse
November was a creative month for SKC students in Calgary. Students were asked to consider imaginative ways to express their emotions. They explored colour, and made beautiful art by melting crayons to demonstrate how they were feeling. Time was also spent focusing on happiness. Students coloured a map of their heart to show some of the things and people that make them happy. Many students noticed that they felt happier simply by thinking about what makes them happy. Since cookies were a common source of happiness, we decided to bake some! The students practiced reading recipes and measuring ingredients. The school smelled amazing! In late November we began learning about sensory overload. To get a better understanding of how our senses work, students were tasked with identifying mystery sounds, smells and tastes. It was a great relationship building experiment for the kids, and they had a fun time enjoying each other’s reactions.
