Students in Shania Kids Can, Calgary, invested time and effort in learning more about themselves. They used science to investigate how anxiety affects their brains, and learned more about situations that trigger stress or anger. By understanding themselves better, they can avoid problem situations and ultimately be more successful both at school and in their communities. One calming strategy that was very popular was hugging a stuffy. Students made their own personal stuffies with help from special guest Miss. Sarah. Another common stressor for students is hunger, as a result students learned how to bake their own pita pizzas! Both sewing and cooking are skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
