What a fantastic and busy year in the SKC Clubhouse at Sir Winston Churchill. The local Peel Police Officers are an amazing support for our program. Once again, they came and had a wonderful Thanksgiving lunch with us. It is always so important to remind ourselves what we are thankful for! We had an amazing time attending a performance of ‘The Nutcracker’ at Rose Theatre. We enjoyed visiting the Finlayson Centre, visiting the seniors centre for games and crafts with the seniors, swimming, visiting the Brampton Animal Centre, having a visit from Angela the dietician, going to Century Gardens and making bath bombs! Students also loved when Mr. Brard, a local Peel music teacher came into the Clubhouse and did drumming with our buckets donated from Home Depot. Let me say, Sir Winston Churchill knows how to drop a beat! SKC introduced a 14-week girls group that included SKC and non-SKC students alike. Watching the changes occur in these participants has been amazing! From talks on self-esteem to a visit from a female welder to yoga we have been able to see what these girls CAN become! Students loved going to Chinguacousy Park where we had a tour of the park, including the petting zoo, barn and garden. Students saw goats, horses, lamas, birds and planted their own bean plant which they were able to take home to watch grow and hopefully eat! Even though the year is coming to a close, the Clubhouse is still buzzing with excitement as we are going to see Shania Twain in Concert June 30th! It is sure to be an unforgettable evening. It has been such a pleasure being the program leader for the past two years. I wish everyone at Sir Winston Churchill and in Shania Kids Can all the BEST!
