Irwin SKC students had such a wonderful year and we enjoyed everything the program had to offer. Every day, the students came down to the Clubhouse and enjoyed each other’s company while learning new things like chess and cooking, and games that support social and emotional learning.

For spring break SKC put together some VERY special take home bags for the students in the program, and they were all very excited to receive them. Also included with the goodies were notes of encouragement and positive affirmations as well as many different crafts and activities! The children were on cloud 9!

This year we made a special “Gratitude Wall” where the students enjoyed writing down things that they were grateful for. Most chose to say family, friends, and their pets, but a few fun ideas were their lunchboxes, their gummy treats and even their imaginary friend!  So cute! In the Clubhouse they learned the importance of being grateful for what they have and to feel blessed for what is yet to come! Logan enjoyed this uplifting activity to help build his self-esteem by filling out “I love ME because….”  And he thought of some very special things! The staff were all impressed!

We are very grateful to have MANY school supplies, healthy food choices and warm clothes for our SKC Students throughout the year. We have extremely cold winters here in Dwight, ON, and there are students at the school who don’t have proper warm clothing. Luckily the SKC Clubhouse has a nice warm supply of winter coats, hats, mitts, sweaters, snow pants and even clean socks to help keep our special kiddos warm!  We have a large supply of school supplies for our students to help them to achieve their best in their studies!

SKC students at Irwin Memorial worked REALLY hard at decorating the front foyer with a beautiful, uplifting mural and they asked the whole school to participate!  They wrote “Be a rainbow, in someone else’s cloud!” and they asked the school to spread some kindness and joy by asking them to cut out their hand prints and write an affirmation or a special way to make someone’s day better! Go SKC, and thanks for spreading some cheer!!!

We were grateful that we FINALLY were able to take an end of year trip, and we went to a local camp for the day and played many different educational outdoor games and did different team building activities and crafts.  They enjoyed a nutritious lunch that the camp provided. The students got to learn new things and tried different sports for the first time, and built some new relationships.  It was such a wonderful experience!  Thank you Arrowhead Camp in Dwight for hosting such a wonderful day!
