It’s a new year and some fun changes have happened here at the Irwin SKC Clubhouse. From the new “Goalz” board where the kids are keeping track of goals they have for the year, to the life skills we are learning by baking for the whole school once a week. We have been out in the community getting to know some of our community leaders and we’ve invited businesses to the Clubhouse as guest speakers, we recently learned about plants from the local nursery who hosted workshops for us. We’re off to a great start! A few of our older Clubhouse members had the opportunity to spend a day traveling to the Brampton Clubhouse, meeting new friends, seeing how different and similar the program is BUT also leaving the town of Dwight for the first time and going to the “big” city and a restaurant where they could order whatever they wanted!

In the new year we have LOTS of plans. We will be having The Traveling Stage come to run workshops on confidence through the art of dance and acting. We will be visiting one of our nursing homes to spread some smiles and love and working on our reading and writing skills with a couple local authors and artists.

Whatever reason students are a part of the Clubhouse they are each treated with the same amount of care and love to help them be successful. YOU, your care and donations, are how these sweet kids get a chance to see what opportunities are out there for them. YOU are helping children who would have never got to see what “doors” there are to even open to a future to get excited for and we here at Irwin SKC are grateful.
